Off to the races

We now have three races out of eight under our belts. Liam was excited to have Jeremy join him on the track. End result Liam over all is in sixth place, Jeremy is last. Although Jeremy came in last, he had fun, he did his best and went out of his comfort zone. For Jeremy this is HUGE! I'm so proud of both of them.

As I watch them both ride, I see the differences in them, Liam becomes one with the bike. His fluent movement over each jump, the way he curls over the bike on a straight away resembles a Panther chasing his prey or an Antelope in the wild, instinctively knowing where to be and when to be there. It's natural for him, no fear, executing the next move effortlessly. Jeremy is equally as swift. He is cautious, he observes the other riders, waiting for a mistake to be made so he can make his move safely and quickly. Once he witnesses the flaw, he pulls the throttle down and makes his way through the pack one rider at a time.
I continue to watch in awe and realized, I wasn't as nervous for Jeremy to ride as I was for Liam. Liam is a crazy kid, no limits, no fear of anything. Jeremy is six years older then Liam and knows that caution is always on his side.
As a child I was frightened of so many things. I remember trying to jump from a one story roof at a friends house into the largest snow pile known to man (or so we thought). Eventually I did it but it took a lot of coxing to get me to jump. I'm glad I have encouraged my children to believe in themselves, although at times, it does comeback to bite me but for the most part it works.
